Acute care surgery symposium planned for April 12
April 05, 2013 College News - The Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Surgery is hosting the Acute Care Surgery: Trauma, Critical Care and Emergency General Surgery Symposium on Friday, April 12, in the MCW Kerrigan Auditorium. The event targets medical professionals who are involved with the practice of emergency general surgery, surgical critical care and trauma care.
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
Define the practice of Acute Care Surgery
Discuss optimal management options for patients with an open abdomen in order to achieve abdominal wall closure
Discuss current recommendations for balanced resuscitation of the injured patient presenting shock
Describe special considerations for initial management of the acutely ill or injured geriatric patient
Describe the likely impact of traumatic events on future psychological health of the injured patient and their caregivers.
