Beat Breast Cancer Golf Outing on Aug. 17 to benefit MCW breast cancer research
July 10, 2013 College News - The 8th annual Beat Breast Cancer Golf Outing will take place on Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Fairways of Woodside in Sussex. The event begins with registration and lunch at 11 a.m., followed by a golf scramble with a shotgun start at noon.
Registration is $125 and includes 18 holes of golf (greens fees and cart), lunch, dinner, and prizes. For $30, non-golfers can join the group for a social hour beginning at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:15 p.m. A silent auction, basket drawing, and other prizes also will be featured.
This event is organized by Jim and Colleen Leinss and Guy Wilcox, who lost loved ones to breast cancer in 2003. The Leinss’s daughter, Denise, was 42, and Guy Wilcox’s wife, Karen, was 52. In 2004, Colleen and Jim Leinss established the Denise M. Leinss Breast Cancer Research Fund at MCW in memory of their daughter. Since then, more than $260,000 has been contributed to this fund through this golf outing, other fund raising events, and personal donations from Denise’s family and friends.
The registration deadline for the golf outing is Aug. 2. Additional information is available on the 8th annual Beat Breast Cancer Golf Outing registration form and brochure (PDF).
