CTSI to offer new online course – Introduction to Community Engagement

June 21, 2012 College News - Beginning this fall, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute of Southeast Wisconsin (CTSI) will offer a new online introductory course on the concepts, theories and principles of community engagement and community engagement in research. Introduction to Community Engagement: Principles of Community Engagement and Community Engagement in Research is an elective in the College’s Master’s Program in Clinical and Translational Science but is open to anyone enrolled in the MCW Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

The course will emphasize community/academic partnerships and examine the methods and strategies of community engagement research including partnership development, capacity building, project planning, communication, dissemination, evaluation and ethical practices. Participants will receive an introduction to community engagement principles and a foundation for translating research into practice.

Tuition for the course is $2,130, which equates to $710 per credit. Existing MCW Graduate School students should register between July 2 and Aug. 3 to avoid late fees. All others interested in taking the course for credit should apply to the Graduate School by July 1.
