College to honor Veterans and Joining Forces Wellness Week Nov. 11-15

Nov. 7, 2013 College News - Nov. 11-15 has been designated Joining Forces Wellness Week by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) to recognize the sacrifice and commitment of our military service members, veterans, and their families. The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) will be observing the commemorative week with a series of events and webinars that highlight the health and wellness needs of veterans and their families. The military-related webinars were developed by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).

MCW is working with the AAMC on this project to ensure physicians and medical students are aware of the unique clinical challenges and best practices associated with caring for veterans and the role that medical schools and teaching hospitals play in providing this care.

On Monday, Nov. 11, the Student’s Military Association will host a Veterans Day Luncheon at 12 p.m. in the Kerrigan Auditorium. The event is open to the entire community, and lunch will be provided for the students. Also on Monday Nov. 11, all MCW faculty, staff and students are invited to a reception honoring our veterans and their families at 4 p.m. in HRC rooms H1210-1250, hosted by the Medical College of Wisconsin Joining Forces Committee.

MCW will host the AAMC webinar at 11 a.m. each day during Joining Forces Wellness Week.
