Dr. Ann Rosenthal appointed Chief of Rheumatology, Will and Cava Ross Professor of Medicine
April 06, 2012 College News - Ann K. Rosenthal, MD, Professor of Medicine (Rheumatology), has been appointed Chief of the Division of Rheumatology by Roy L. Silverstein, MD, Chairman and the John and Linda Mellowes Professor of Medicine. Dr. Rosenthal also was named the Will and Cava Ross Professor of Medicine, and will assume the new position of Vice Chair for Faculty Development in the Department of Medicine when she completes her current service as Interim Chief of the Medical Service at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center.
Dr. Rosenthal has served as Interim Chief of Rheumatology for the past two years.
“Dr. Rosenthal has taken on increasing leadership roles in the Department of Medicine over the past two years and has had a significant positive impact on all of our missions,” said Dr. Silverstein. “I am very excited to have Ann join our leadership team on a permanent basis and have full confidence that she will help lead the Division of Rheumatology and Department of Medicine to greater levels of success.”
Dr. Rosenthal is internationally known as an innovative laboratory investigator in the fields of innate immunity and crystal-related arthritis. She is well published and her research program has been continuously funded from the VA and/or National Institutes of Health since 1992.
In addition to her clinical and research efforts, Dr. Rosenthal has been a successful teacher and mentor, twice receiving the Golden Apple Award from the M3 class for excellence in teaching.
Dr. Rosenthal received her MD from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, and a fellowship in rheumatology at MCW.
