Dr. Carol Williams honored for demonstrating extraordinary leadership in women’s health
Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation Names Champion in Women’s Health Award Recipients
April 17, 2013 College News - Carol L. Williams, PhD, Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology, is one of seven individuals being honored by the Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation with Champion in Women’s Health Awards on Saturday, May 4. Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation founder and president, Sue Ann Thompson, will present the awards at a luncheon from 11:30am – 1:30pm.
The Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation created the Champion in Women’s Health Awards to honor individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership in women’s health.
“We received many nominations from all over the state,” says Sue Ann Thompson. “After the difficult task of narrowing them down, we chose seven individuals who are instrumental in raising awareness of women’s health issues, expanding the base of knowledge about women’s health through their work, and impacting the quality of health care that Wisconsin women receive.”
Nominated by their peers, the Champions are from three Wisconsin communities. They are:
Jim Riordan – Lifetime Achievement Award – President and Chief Executive Officer Emeritus, Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corporation, Madison
Frank Byrne, MD – President, St. Mary’s Hospital, Madison
Susan Gadacz, MA – Director, Community Services Branch, Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division, Milwaukee
Mindy Gribble, RN, HNB-BC – WINGS Survivorship Program Coordinator, Marshfield Center Oncology, Marshfield
Claudia Guevara – Breast Health Advocate, Columbia St. Mary’s, Milwaukee
Gale Johnson – Program Director, Wisconsin Well Woman Program, Madison
