Dr. Frank Pintar selected to be a Fellow of the Society of Automotive Engineers
April 14, 2014 College News - Frank A Pintar, PhD, Professor of Neurosurgery, was selected to be a Fellow in the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) at the April SAE Congress meeting. SAE Fellowship is the highest level of membership bestowed by SAE International and is awarded to recognize outstanding engineering and scientific accomplishments by an individual that have resulted in meaningful advances in automotive, aerospace and commercial-vehicle technology.
Dr. Pintar was recognized for significant contributions to the field of impact and injury biomechanics through research and teaching engineers and physicians. He is internationally recognized as an expert with specific applications to motor vehicle crashworthiness and occupant safety. His laboratory research was used in the development and promulgation of the 2001 upgrade of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS-208) for frontal impacts as well as the recent upgrade of the FMVSS-214 side impact regulations.
