Dr. Michael McCrea to receive Leadership Award from Wauwatosa Public Library Foundation
March 05, 2013 College News - Michael McCrea, PhD, Professor of Neurosurgery and Neurology and Director of Brain Injury Research at the Medical College of Wisconsin, has been selected to receive the 2013 Leadership Award from the Wauwatosa Public Library Foundation.
Dr. McCrea has been an active researcher in the neurosciences and has been a leader in several efforts to advance concussion testing among student and adult athletes. He has authored the text, Mild Traumatic Brain Injury and Postconcussion Syndrome: The New Evidence Base for Diagnosis and Treatment. He is a former member of the United States Department of Defense Health Board External Advisory on Traumatic Brain Injury, where he advised the Office of the Secretary of Defense on management and research of military-related traumatic brain injury. He is a member of the National Football League’s Head, Neck and Spine Committee and a participant in the International Olympic Committee conference on medicine and sport.
