Dr. Robert Chayer named Chucker Aring Chair in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin
May 20, 2013 College News - Robert Chayer, MD, Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine and Director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, has been appointed the Chucker Aring Chair in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
Originally established in 2002 by a gift to Children’s Hospital from Julia and David Uihlein, this chair provides funding for clinical, educational, and research efforts that strive to prevent suicide and depression in children and adolescents, particularly those living in poverty.
Prior to joining the Medical College of Wisconsin and Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in 2006, Dr. Chayer spent 12 years in private practice in the Milwaukee area providing psychiatric treatment to children in foster care. His current clinical practice includes both Children's Hospital of Wisconsin and extensive work with CHW’s Community Services, and the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Among his innovative initiatives is a program, modeled after a successful effort in Massachusetts that expands the reach of psychiatric medicine through education and consultation with primary care providers.
