Final Vision Science Distinguished Lecture planned for April 22

April 18, 2013 College News - The Department of Ophthalmology is presenting the final Vision Science Distinguished Lecture of the 2012-2013 series on Monday, April 22, from 12-1 p.m. in the lower level of the Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin Eye Institute. Jeffrey L. Goldberg, MD, PhD, Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of Research at the Shiley Eye Center at the University of California – San Diego, will give a presentation titled, Retinal Ganglion Cell Survival and Regeneration.

One of Dr. Goldberg’s main areas of research is glaucoma. He is working with Alfredo Dubra, PhD, Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology, on the Glaucoma Research Foundation’s Catalyst for a Cure consortium. Dr. Goldberg was the 2012 Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Cogan Award winner for his outstanding leadership and commitment to advancing the understanding of the causes, mechanisms, and treatment of human eye disease.

Lunch will be provided. The event is co-sponsored by the MCW MSTP program and the MCW Neuroscience Research Center. The lecture series is sponsored by The Eunice and Conroy Caron Endowment.
