Froedtert and MCW e-ICU leadership change
Sept. 14, 2012 College News - Lewis B. Somberg, MD, Associate Professor of Surgery (Trauma and Critical Care), has been appointed Medical Director of the e-ICU at Froedtert Hospital, and Valerie Bonne, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine (Pulmonary), has been appointed the Co-Medical Director. Both Drs. Somberg and Bonne have been long standing faculty members at the Medical College and Froedtert Hospital. When making the announcement, Lee Biblo, MD, Chief Medical Officer for both Medical College Physicians and Froedtert Hospital, also thanked Dr. Stephen Dolan for his years of service leading the e-ICU.
Dr. Somberg is a graduate of the Emory School of Medicine with advanced training in general surgery and trauma/critical care at Louisiana State University, University of Miami, Florida, and the University of Mississippi.
Dr. Bonne is a graduate of Loyola Stritch School of Medicine, with advanced training in internal medicine and pulmonary/critical care at MCW.
Drs. Somberg and Bonne will partner with the Operations Director of the e-ICU, Ms. Erin Green. Together they will be responsible for the oversight and ongoing improvement of all patient care activities related to the e-ICU. They will provide administrative and quality leadership, as well as develop robust quality/academic functions in the e-ICU. Drs. Somberg and Bonne will lead outreach efforts for the strategic development of the e-ICU services regionally.
The medical leadership position will report to Dr. Biblo, to Mr. Peter Pruessing, Chief Executive Officer of Quality Health Solutions, and to Roy Silverstein, MD, the John and Linda Mellowes Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine.
