Lane closures around campus during the week of Aug. 5

August 02, 2013 College News - Below is a list of lane closures around campus the week of Aug. 5, 2013. All road work is subject to change because of weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

Milwaukee Regional Medical Center remains accessible from all directions the week of Aug. 5.     

Wisconsin State Fair: The duration of overnight closures will be shortened this week due to the Wisconsin State Fair.  Most highway/interstate overnight lane closures will occur after midnight and reopen before 5am. 

Watertown Plank Road access

  • REOPENED: Watertown Plank Road just west of the intersection of HWY 100 reopens on August 5th - earlier than scheduled!  Some paving work will continue but two lanes will be open in both directions. 
  • Throughout the week, a westbound lane will be closed on Watertown Plank Road from 87th Street to US45 for utility work, reducing traffic to one lane. Work will begin at 5am with and is scheduled to reopen by 3pm each day.
    • Recommended route:  Wisconsin Avenue on the south side of campus now offers construction-free access to our campus from US45.

From the North:

  • A lane will be closed overnight during the week on US 45 NB/SB between Underwood Creek Parkway and Wisconsin Avenue for drilling operations.

From the South:

  • Throughout the week: Lanes will be closed overnight on I-894/US 45 northbound & southbound at Cleveland Avenue for a traffic switch.

From the East:

  • REOPENED: Wisconsin Avenue eastbound and westbound at the Glenview Avenue intersection has reopened.
  • Glenview Avenue will remain closed between the Wisconsin Avenue intersection and the Bluemound Road intersection until the end of August.

From the West:

  • REOPENED:  Watertown Plank Road just west of the intersection of HWY 100 reopened on August 5th - earlier than scheduled!  Some paving work will continue but two lanes will be open in both directions. 
  • REOPENED: All lanes on Wisconsin Avenue over US45 are now open!

A Look-Ahead:

  • October – December:  Swan Boulevard southbound over US 45 will close to rebuild the bridge and roadway. 
  • Late October – July 2014: Ronald McDonald House pedestrian bridge project begins.
  • November 1st – Watertown Plank Road Park & Ride Lot closes; Burleigh Street & US45 lot opens
  • January 6th – Watertown Plank Road closes
