Lane closures around campus during the week of Sept. 2

August 30, 2013 College News - Below is a list of lane closures around campus the week of Sept. 2, 2013. All road work is subject to change because of weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

Milwaukee Regional Medical Center remains accessible from all directions the week of Sept. 2.

ALERT: The Swan Boulevard bridge has been demolished and southbound lanes are detoured at Underwood Parkway. Overnight lane closures on US45 north and south will continue as rebuilding begins.

  • DETOUR: The southbound lanes of Swan Boulevard will be detoured at Underwood Parkway.

Watertown Plank Road access

  • Lanes will continue to be closed eastbound and westbound on Watertown Plank Road from 87th Street to US45 for utility work, reducing traffic to one lane.
    • Recommended route:  Wisconsin Avenue on the south side of campus now offers construction-free access to our campus from US45.

From the North:

  • Lanes will be closed overnight throughout the week on US 45 at Swan Boulevard for bridge work. 

From the South:

  • Lanes will continue to be closed overnight on US 45 at Swan Boulevard for bridge work.
  • O’Connor Street westbound between 76th and 78th Street will be closed beginning Tuesday through mid-October.   
  • Lanes will be closed this week during the day on 84th Street and 92nd Street between Dana Court and Hawthorne Avenue for utility work.

From the East:

  • Glenview Avenue has reopened between Wisconsin Avenue and Bluemound Road. The Bluemound Road intersection has also opened in its final configuration.

From the West:

  • There are no restrictions in place at this time.

A Look-Ahead:

  • Late August - September: Harwood Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Glenview Avenue and Harmonee Avenue for city water main work. Delays are expected. Detour is recommended.
    • Recommended routes: From the east - Honey Creek Parkway to Wisconsin Avenue; From MRMC – Swan Boulevard to North Avenue.
  • Late October – July 2014: Ronald McDonald House pedestrian bridge project begins.
  • November 1st – Watertown Plank Road Park & Ride Lot closes; Burleigh Street & US45 lot opens
  • January 6th – Watertown Plank Road closes
