Sept. 27, 2013 College News - Below is a list of lane closures around campus the week of Sept. 30, 2013. All road work is subject to change because of weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

Additional information about the Zoo interchange project and its impact on MCW and the campus can be found on the College’s Zoo interchange Web page.

Milwaukee Regional Medical Center remains accessible from all directions the week of Sept. 30.

Campus traffic alerts:

  1. The north employee entrance of Children’s Hospital North Parking Structure will close during the day on Wednesday for water main work.
  2. Due to the construction of Froedtert’s new Center for Advanced Care building, a portion of Doyne Avenue has become a one-lane roadway. Traffic will be able to travel between 92nd and 87th but will be controlled by traffic signals. Please pay close attention to the new signals and be sure to only travel when a green light is displayed.

Watertown Plank Road access

  • Watertown Plank Road will become increasingly congested over the next few weeks as more utility companies make their necessary alternations to our service lines. Throughout the day, only one lane of traffic may be available in both directions. Delays are expected to occur and backups on the US45 off ramps have already been observed.
    • Recommended route:  Wisconsin Avenue on the south side of campus offers construction-free access from US45.
  • NOTE: WisDOT will be installing highway signage directing traffic to use Wisconsin Avenue as the preferred access.

From the North:

  • US45 southbound at Swan Boulevard will close two lanes overnight on Monday for bridge work.
  • The entrance and exit ramps from North Avenue to US 45 north and south will close overnight on Monday and Tuesday.
  • North Avenue will have overnight lane closures eastbound and westbound between Hwy 100 and 117th Street throughout the week.
  • The Swan Boulevard bridge has been demolished and southbound lanes are detoured at Underwood Parkway.
    • DETOUR: The southbound lanes of Swan Boulevard will be detoured at Underwood Parkway.

  • Traffic Update: The City of Wauwatosa’s water main work was delayed but has been rescheduled to begin Monday, Sept. 30 and continue through early November. Harwood Avenue between Glenview Avenue and Dewey Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction.  Delays are anticipated.  Please consider an alternative route if traveling through downtown Wauwatosa.

From the West:

  • The Zoo Interchange west-to-north system ramp will be closed overnight Monday – Thursday of next week for Swan Boulevard excavation work.
