March 07, 2013 College News - The Medical College of Wisconsin/Marquette Medical Alumni Association presented Lawrence G. Pan, PT, PhD, FAPTA, with its Graduate School Alumnus of the Year award on March 6 at an all-student meeting of the MCW Graduate Student Association. This is the award’s second year.
Dr. Pan is Professor and Chair of Physical Therapy at Marquette University. He directs two federally funded diversity programs at Marquette: the Health Careers Opportunity Program and the Youth Empowered to Succeed program. He joined Marquette’s full-time faculty in 1986 and became Chair in 1996. Dr. Pan was also a staff physical therapist at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee for 22 years.
In 1983, Dr. Pan earned his PhD in Physiology from the MCW Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. His special interests are in exercise physiology, respiratory physiology, neural control of breathing and minority education. He maintains research collaborations with MCW faculty, including his former mentor, Hubert V. Forster, PhD, Professor of Physiology.
Dr. Pan has also served on the Alumni Association Board.
