Meara Peterson named Outstanding Young Alumnus of the Year by her undergraduate college
Sept. 26, 2013 College News - Meara Peterson, DNP, RN, CPNP-PC, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the Department of Pediatrics who works in adolescent medicine with the Milwaukee Adolescent Health Program, was named Outstanding Young Alumnus of the Year by the University of Mary Washington (UMW) in Fredericksburg, VA. Dr. Peterson, who received her undergraduate degree from UMW in 2005, was honored for her efforts to provide reproductive care for underserved adolescents age 12-22.
Dr. Peterson treats patients from Milwaukee Public Schools, the Milwaukee Juvenile Detention Center and the Downtown Health Center, focusing on teen pregnancy, reproductive health, dating violence and other teenage issues. As part of her efforts, she helped establish a school-based clinic for 6th through 12th graders at The Alliance School of Milwaukee.
Dr. Peterson received her master’s degree from Marquette University and her DNP from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.
