Medical College of Wisconsin student selected for Houghton Award

June 08, 2012 College News - Erin Preloger, who recently received her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, has received the Houghton Award from the Wisconsin Medical Society.  The Houghton Award recognizes students who exhibit not only scholastic and scientific excellence, but who also work to achieve broad goals of public health.

The award was founded by John H. Houghton, M.D. (1907-1968), a general practitioner in Wisconsin Dells and a former president of the State Medical Society of Wisconsin.

Dr. Preloger was born in Sioux Falls, S.D., and did her undergraduate study at St. Olaf College.  During her education at the Medical College of Wisconsin, she served as co-president of the American Medical Student Association. Dr. Preloger also was active in pediatric research.  She presented a poster, Diabetes Week: Simulation and Team Based Learning in Basic Science Education, at the Department of Family Medicine Research Forum.

Dr. Preloger will begin a residency in pediatrics at the University of Colorado – Denver next month.
