Medical students to take on MU dental students July 30 in annual softball game
July 22, 2011 College News - Medical College of Wisconsin medical students will compete against dental students from the Marquette University School of Dentistry at the fifth annual Thriller at Miller, on Saturday, July 30. The game will be played at Helfaer Field, adjacent to Miller Park.
MCW’s American Geriatrics Society student chapter will sponsor the Medical College’s team in the competition for the Caduceus Cup. Other activities include an all-you-can-eat tailgate, a mascot home run derby, tug-of-war, and a performance by Seniorgee! - a local dance troupe composed of senior citizens.
The annual Thriller at Miller softball game is a fundraiser for the MCW Senior Mentor Program (SMP) at the Village at Manor Park. Village at Manor Park is a senior living community on Milwaukee’s south side, and the Senior Mentor Program is an elective that first-year students can take as part of their required Clinical Continuum course. The program matches students with older adults associated with the Village at Manor Park and educates the students on the aging process.
Tickets for the Thriller at Miller events are $20 and include a ticket to see the Milwaukee Brewers play the Houston Astros that evening. Proceeds from the ticket sales benefit geriatrics education at MCW and elsewhere in the community.
