Parkinson’s & Movement Disorders program moves forward
Feb. 27, 2014 College News - A family event supporting the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Program took advantage of a beautiful October day to raise $50,000 in 2013.
The fifth installment of the Moving Forward Ride/Walk for Parkinson’s drew 500 attendees to Cory Park in Dousman, Wis. It featured 30-mile and 10-mile bike routes as well as 1-mile, 2 mile and 5K walking options.
Many participants formed teams to support a friend or family member with Parkinson’s disease. This was the case for the three largest teams: Bill’s Buddies, representing Bill Ihlenfeld; Team McCullough representing George McCullough; and Team Gile, representing Maureen Gile. Balloon art, face painting and an area to create your own painting continued the family focus of the event.
Moving Forward’s largest donor was the Prescott Family Foundation. Funds raised from the event enhance patient and family education, research grants, Parkinson’s exercise programs and training for clinical faculty and staff in the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Program.
