Participants selected for 2013 Summer Fellowship in Family Medicine & Medical Student Education
April 11, 2013 College News - Derrick Hall and Michelle Wenzel, both first-year medical students at the Medical College of Wisconsin, have been selected for the 2013 Summer Fellowship in Family Medicine & Medical Student Education. The fellowship is an eight week scholarly enrichment program supported by a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration and the MCW Department of Family and Community Medicine.
Douglas Bower, MD, Associate Professor of Family and Community Medicine, is the project director.
Hall and Wenzel will spend the summer working with medical educators to identify and develop curriculum features for a three-year, accelerated, competency-based MD program in Family Medicine. The students will also receive advanced clinical training through a modified M3 Family Medicine Clerkship experience to assess the feasibility and preparedness of M2 students to complete a clerkship.
Hall grew up in Pasco, Wash., and earned his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University. Wenzel is from Brookfield, and earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
