Silent & live auctions at Bead&Button Show to benefit MCW breast cancer research
April 22, 2013 College News - The Bead&Button Show, the country’s largest consumer bead show, will be held in Milwaukee June 7-9. The show will feature the Bead Artists Against Breast Cancer silent and live auctions of beads, jewelry, books, and supplies, with one hundred percent of the funds raised donated to breast cancer research at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
The show will be held at The Delta Center, 400 Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee. A marketplace, featuring nearly 400 vendors with an extensive selection of beads and jewelry from around the world, will be open to the public for shopping on Friday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; on Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and on Sunday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults; children 12 and under are free. Friday evening, from 5-8 pm, everyone will be offered free admission for a special Free Friday Night Owl Shopping.
The silent auction area will be open on Friday, June 7, and Saturday, June 8, closing at 1 p.m. each day. Vendors have donated items for the auction, ranging from finished jewelry, artwork, lamp worked beads, and more.
The live auction will be held during a special Bead Social, which will take place Saturday, June 8, from 7:30 – 11 p.m. Handmade beads, sculptural art glass and other beautiful items will be auctioned off during this evening. This event also will feature coffee and cake, a cash bar, and many door prizes from exhibitors and faculty. Admission is $10 per person.
The Bead&Button Show is produced by Kalmbach Publishing Company of Waukesha and Bead&Button magazine. In 2012, the live and silent auctions at this show raised more than $19,000 for breast cancer research at MCW.
