Teaching Toolbox website launched

June 05, 2012 College News - A new Teaching Toolbox website that provides faculty with “tools” to facilitate efficient and effective classroom time has been launched on www.mcw.edu and features downloadable documents, tutorial videos and helpful links to websites and teaching support content. 

Designed by the Faculty Development Workgroup based on feedback from MCW faculty, the Teaching Toolbox introduces faculty to basic technologies as well as “best practices” to support their teaching needs and goals.  Per your request, the website is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week from both on-campus and off-campus locations. 
 

Among the sections to be continually updated with new tools and techniques are: 

  • Preparing for the Classroom –contains information on competency-based medical education, Active Learning strategies and technologies and course development
     
  • In the Classroom –will feature materials that faculty can use in the classroom and how-to information for effective use of 21st-century teaching technologies
     
  • Assessing Student Competencies – will feature information and “best practices” for student assessment
     
  • Preceptor/Mentor Toolbox, including information on how to become involved, expectations and suggestions for faculty preceptors and mentors
     
  • The Discovery Curriculum Resources Team- contains contact information for the resources that are available to assist you with the organization and presentation of your session content, assessment needs and technology needs in the classroom.  Once you have reviewed the online materials, contact one of our resources for a one-on-one session and let us help you build your session activities.
