The Best Route to the Best Care
July 26, 2013 College News - Did you know? The Zoo Interchange Freeway is one of Wisconsin's oldest interstate interchanges and is currently the busiest interchange in the state. Much progress is being made on the roadways around our campus as part of the Zoo Interchange project. This coming week marks a milestone with a couple of lengthy closures reopening to the public.
Glenview Avenue: We did it! We made it through the closure of the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Glenview Avenue! As of Monday morning, traffic from the north may now access Wisconsin Avenue from Glenview Avenue. We still have a few more weeks to go before Glenview Avenue reopens in between Wisconsin Avenue and Bluemound Avenue with its newly-paved and enhance configuration. But, let’s celebrate the small victories!
Bluemound Road: We did it again! We survived the closure of Bluemound Road just west of the Hwy 100 intersection. Beginning just after midnight on Thursday morning, the intersection of Bluemound Road and Hwy 100 will again welcome traffic from all directions. Ok, this one may have been a little tougher to stomach by hindering our access to favorite lunch places like Mo’s and Edwardo’s. But, who doesn’t love that new asphalt smell?
On Wisconsin! Have you noticed the newly marked lanes on Wisconsin Avenue? By removing the street parking on Wisconsin Avenue between 92nd and US 45, traffic now has two lanes marked for travel in each direction. In addition, there are now two signal-directed left hand turn lanes from Wisconsin Avenue eastbound to northbound 92nd Street. Repairs to the Wisconsin Avenue bridge conclude this week and all lanes will be fully open for travel as of Wednesday morning, July 31st. Wisconsin Avenue will truly be the best route to access our campus – construction free! Give it a try.
Alas, all good things must come to an end. August 1st begins a new closure on Watertown Plank Road just west of the Hwy 100 intersection. This closure will remain until August 10th. North and southbound traffic on Hwy 100 will be allowed through the intersection and westbound traffic on Watertown Plank Road will be able to make northbound and southbound turns onto Hwy 100. See map for full detour information. (PDF) Driveway access to the Tosa Center, located on the southwest corner of the intersection, will remain open from the north and the east. As a reminder, utility work will continue to close lanes on Watertown Plank Road to our north, causing delays. (Remember….On Wisconsin!)
