Two-day R Workshop planned for May 10-11 at the Medical College of Wisconsin
April 10, 2013 College News - The Clinical and Translational Science Institute of Southeast Wisconsin (CTSI), the Center for Patient Care and Outcomes Research (PCOR) and the Milwaukee Chapter of the American Statistical Association are sponsoring a two-day R workshop on the advanced topics of Bioinformatics with Bioconductor and seamless R/C++ integration. The workshop will be on Friday, May 10, and Saturday, May 11, in MCW’s Kerrigan Auditorium.
Friday’s sessions will be a mix of lectures and hands-on exercises using Bioconductor / R and will focus on “-omics” data analysis, gene set enrichment analysis, and workflow of sequence analysis. Keynote speakers include Denise Scholtens, PhD, and Kwang-Youn Kim, PhD, from Northwestern University, and Kimberly Strong, PhD, Assistant Professor of Bioethics and Medical Humanities in the MCW Institute for Health and Society.
Saturday’s session will be led by Dirk Eddelbuettel, PhD, a Senior Quantitative Analyst in Chicago who has been writing R/CRAN packages for over a decade. He will provide a practical introduction to the Rcpp package and its straightforward applications as well as provide a hands-on introduction to more advanced Rcpp features.
