Dr. Martin Wakeham (Pediatrics – Critical Care) is lead author of a study published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that found that less than half the children admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit have a documented caloric requirement. He notes that having a caloric requirement documented in medical records could improve clinical outcomes for critically ill children.
