MCW is one of the initial members of the Midwest Council, a national advocacy organization serving 12 upper Midwest and Plains states. The Midwest Council was created by former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson and former Nebraska Governor and U.S. Senator Ben Nelson to lobby for federal funding support for projects in the nation’s heartland.

July 30 - MCW’s Department of Emergency Medicine has entered into a relationship with the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize and the Belize Ministry of Health in which MCW will provide advanced training in emergency medicine to the hospital’s doctors and nurses. Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital has the largest and busiest emergency department in Belize. The Guardian
