Could your own immune system cure blood cancers?

Wisconsin Tonight, a news program on WTMJ-TV, featured Subramaniam Malarkannan, PhD, professor of medicine (hematology and oncology) and microbiology and molecular genetics. Dr. Malarkannan’s current research explores a theory that a patient’s own immune system may have the capability to clear blood cancers and cancerous tumors.

Ridin’ to a Cure

Sept. 29 - The 20th annual Ridin’ to a Cure event was held in Oconomowoc on September 27. Fox 6 News covered the ride’s kickoff live. Carol Williams, PhD, professor of pharmacology and toxicology at MCW and a breast cancer researcher, is a regular participant in the ride. She was interviewed for the story. WITI TV

MCW scientist to participate in Civil War re-enactment

Sept. 25 - Brendan Quirk, a research scientist in the neurology department, will portray a Civil War doctor in this weekend’s 24th annual Wade House Civil War Weekend in Greenbush, Wis. Quirk is the great-great-grandson of the 24th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment and a regular participant in re-enactments across the state. Manitowoc Herald Tribune

Froedtert Hospital, Health System Win Business Journal’s Healthiest Employers Awards
