In an article in Media Matters on myths related to guns on military bases, Dr. Stephen Hargarten (Emergency Medicine) notes that there is no evidence indicating that arming Americans further will help prevent mass shooting. To the contrary, there appears to be a relationship between the proliferation of firearms and a rise in mass shootings.

The Eminent Scholar program recognizes and rewards excellence in academic and scholarly achievement that ordinarily would be funded from an endowed chair. Aug. 29 - Cellular Dynamics International Inc., a Madison-based biotechnology company, was granted a patent for its stem cell production automation process. Ulrich Broeckel, MD, professor of pediatrics (genetics) and an investigator at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Research Institute, discussed the importance of this patent and how it will help research at MCW.
