Dr. Sam Hwang (Dermatology) received a five-year, $1.6 million grant from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases to study the development of psoriasis, and to evaluate molecules that have the potential to prevent psoriatic symptoms. Brian F. Volkman, PhD, (Biochemistry) is co-investigator on the project.

July 30 - MCW’s Department of Emergency Medicine has entered into a relationship with the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize and the Belize Ministry of Health in which MCW will provide advanced training in emergency medicine to the hospital’s doctors and nurses. Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital has the largest and busiest emergency department in Belize. The Guardian
July 30 - In an interview with BizTimes, Marquette University’s new President Michael Lovell, PhD, said he wants to build Marquette’s research that generates intellectual property.
