Drs. Regner and Dwinell Receive NIH Grant to Create Medical Education Program

Dr. Kevin Regner (Medicine – Nephrology) and Michael Dwinell, PhD, (Microbiology and Molecular Genetics) received a five-year, $273,000 grant from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases to create an education program for medical students that focuses on digestive, metabolic and kidney diseases, with a special emphasis on training a diverse healthcare workforce to address these diseases.

New Marquette President Wants to Build Milwaukee’s Research Infrastructure

July 30 - In an interview with BizTimes, Marquette University’s new President Michael Lovell, PhD, said he wants to build Marquette’s research that generates intellectual property. He said he wants to help create a research infrastructure in Milwaukee that engages MCW, Children’s Hospital, MSOE, and UWM. Biz Times

Wisconsin Supreme Court Rules in Favor of MCW in Whistleblower Case

July 29 - The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled in favor of MCW in a case that affirmed lower court rulings that Wisconsin’s whistleblower law only protects people who actually receive a salary from the institution they file a complaint against. WPR
