Project Ujima Receives Mini-Grant for Gun Violence Prevention Initiative

Project Ujima, a youth anti-violence project of MCW and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, is one of six community agencies receiving mini-grants from the Coming Together Partnership for the Prevention of Gun Violence for projects that pursue gun violence prevention initiatives.  The Coming Together Partnership is co-sponsored by MCW’s Violence Prevention Initiative, as well as Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, the City of Milwaukee Office of Violence Prevention, and Community Advocates’ Milwaukee Brighter Futures Initiative.

Sept. 23 - The State of Wisconsin marked Suicide Prevention Awareness Week. Wisconsin Health News reports that a recent report co-authored by MCW’s Injury Research Center showed that there was an average of over 700 suicides per year in Wisconsin. Wisconsin Health News
