State’s Pediatric Hospitals Not Prescribing Cannabidiol
Although Wisconsin state law now permits health care providers to prescribe cannabidiol, a marijuana derivative used to treat epilepsy, the measure did not include a provision requiring FDA approval for physicians seeking to prescribe the drug. Neither Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin nor American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison will apply for the FDA trial approvals needed to use the drug in Wisconsin. Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin noted that the American Academy of Neurology has not yet recommended the drug.
