VA System Creates Seven New Psychiatry Residency Slots for Northeast Wisconsin

MCW’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine, in partnership with the Milwaukee VA, will oversee the training of seven new psychiatry residency slots in northeast Wisconsin. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs also created mental health training slots for two psychologists and a pharmacist in northeastern Wisconsin.  The new training positions were created to help alleviate a critical shortage of mental health professionals in that region of the state. Dr. Jon Lehrmann will oversee the program and Dr. Carlyle Chan will serve as interim residency training director, pending ACGME approval of the training program. Both Drs. Lehrmann and Chan are in Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine.
