Letter from Dr. Raymond on the Chief Operating Officer transition plan
As part of the plan, Daniel Wickeham to serve as Interim COO
I am writing to provide an update regarding the transition plan for the retirement of Douglas R. Campbell from his position as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, which will be effective January 31, 2011. After consultation with many individuals on campus including all of Mr. Campbell’s direct administrative reports, I have asked Daniel Wickeham, current Vice President for Corporate Compliance and Risk Management, to serve as Interim Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Wickeham will continue to serve in his current role as Vice President for Corporate Compliance and Risk Management, and in addition will assume oversight of responsibilities for Human Resources, Information Services, Campus Operations and Internal Consulting, with the current Vice Presidents and Directors reporting to him. We have the utmost confidence in Dan’s abilities.
Margie Spencer will continue to function in her role as Chief Financial Officer with responsibilities for the Finance Office, the Office of the Controller, the Budget Office, Strategic Investments and Business Information.
Many of you know that we already have contracted with Peck and Associates to perform a national search for Mr. Campbell’s successor. The Medical College of Wisconsin has worked with Jim and Julie Peck on previous searches, and we believe that their intimate knowledge of our organization will facilitate a timely and successful search. Currently, they are completing a large series of meetings with internal constituents, and soon will report their findings to us so that we can proceed with identification and screening of candidates. We hope to fill this important position by the start of the new fiscal year on July 1, 2011.
We thank Doug Campbell for his exemplary service to the College, and for his loyalty and commitment to our organization.
Please join us in welcoming Dan Wickeham to his new role as Interim Chief Operating Officer.
John R. Raymond, Sr., MD
President and CEO
