The Medical College of Wisconsin campus does not maintain residential facilities of any type, either on or off campus.

Previously the Higher Education Act required statistics to be reported as either Sex Offenses, Forcible or Sex Offenses, Non-Forcible. Offense categories were revised in 2014 to Rape, Fondling, Incest and Statutory Rape.

2  The Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 (VAWA) amended the Higher Education Act to require institutions to compile statistics for incidents of domestic violence, dating violence and stalking. VAWA requiresinstitutions to include these new statistics beginning with the Annual Campus Safety Report published in 2014.

3  The Office of General Counsel, in conjunction with Public Safety, reviewed new guidance in the 2016 edition of The Handbook for Campus Safety and Security Reporting published by the Department of Education. This new guidance suggests institutions include crime statistics for "institution-associated hospitals and/or medical centers." While MCW does not own or control Froedtert Hospital (FH) or Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin (CHW), we requestedtheir statistics in a good faith effort to provide readers of this report with comprehensive crime statistic information. FH statistics are subsequently included in this report however CHW declined toprovide its statistics to MCW for this Report. As this guidance was first offered in 2016, statistics are included starting with this year’s report.

Beginning with reports due in 2015, institutions are required to report statistics for crime reports that were "unfounded" and subsequently withheld from crime statistics. A crime is considered unfounded for Clery Act purposes only if sworn or commissioned law enforcement personnel make a formal determination that the report is false or baseless.
