Neuroradiology Fellowship

Medical College of Wisconsin
Department of Radiology

Neuroradiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin is based at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital. The Neuroradiology Section is comprised of eight Neuroradiologists with excellent academic credentials and specialized areas of expertise, including head and neck imaging, adult neuroimaging, neuroanatomy, and physiologic brain imaging. Fellows have the opportunity to pursue research interests in anatomy, pathology, and functional imaging. The Fellowship provides extensive clinical experience in interpretation of MR spectroscopy, fMRI, diffusion tensor imaging and tractography, perfusion/blood volume imaging, CT/PET imaging and neuro-interventional procedures, in addition to conventional neuroradiology imaging studies. Imaging facilities include six state-of-the-art helical CT and six MR scanners on site, with access to an experimental 1.5 and 3.0T imager; three up-to-date digital angiography suites, and a biplane neuroangiography suite with 3D rotational angiography. State-of-the-art GE as well as Siemens CT (Somatom Plus) and MR (1.5T) are used. On-call responsibilities are shared between staff and fellows.

The Neuroradiology Section provides a friendly, supportive environment in which the Fellows can develop the clinical skills and confidence needed to function at a high level in a subsequent academic or private practice setting. Excellent departments of Neurological Surgery and Neurology provide a variety of clinical material.

The new Froedtert Neurosciences Center has provided a major infusion of patients with challenging diagnostic problems. Weekly neuroscience conferences bring together neuroradiologists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuropathologists and radiation oncologists to discuss various aspects of neuro diagnosis and therapy. ACGME accreditation requires each fellow to participate in a research project. The opportunity to develop a research project under the guidance of one or more of the Neuroradiology staff is one of the features of our fellowship program.

In addition to completion of our application, we require copies of your USMLE Step 1 and 2, the Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA), Step 3, three letters of reference from radiologists with whom you have had a working or educational relationship, your personal statement, and a Dean's letter and when indicated, ECFMG Certificate.  Also, when indicated, the Medical College of Wisconsin requires a valid visa.  Completed documents can be mailed or emailed to us at the address below.  Please use the following link to access information about the terms, conditions and benefits of employment: http://www.mcw.edu/GME/BenefitsMainPage.htm
