Financial Conflicts of Interest in Research

Effective August 24, 2012, the Department of Health and Human Services revised its rule (42 CFR Part 50 Subpart F), requiring key personnel involved in Public Health Services funded research to complete Financial Conflicts of Interest in Research training. In addition, MCW Institutional policy requires all persons identified as Principal Investigators and Key Personnel on funding proposal projects at MCW, regardless of funding origination, complete the same training requirements.  A funding proposal will not progress if the training is not current. Please review these Instructions for completing this training. It takes about 15 minutes. Once the training, assessment, and attestation are completed, your training record is registered in your "Researcher Profile" within the eBridge_MCW System, and is viewable by you at any time.
 

INSTRUCTIONS TO COMPLETE TRAINING:

1. Log into eBridgeMCW (http://ebridge.mcw.edu).
   1. Note:  If you do not currently have an eBridge_MCW account, please Register.  When your registration is complete, the eBridge_MCW Help Desk will e-mail your eBridge_MCW ID and Password information to you.
2. Select “My Home” from the upper right corner of the screen.
3. Select the “Study Staff” or “Proposal Team” role from the left column.
4. Select “My Researcher Profile” link from the top middle of your Personal Workspace (My Home).
5. In the Researcher Profile Workspace, select “Financial Conflicts of Interest in Research Training” activity from the left column of the screen.
6. This link opens the training within ANGEL, the MCW Learning Management System. eBridge will remain open in the window behind the presentation. (please see image below with information about possible errors when opening the training presentation in ANGEL).
7. Note:  Adobe Flash Player is required to view the FCOI-R training module.  If you encounter problems or do not currently have Adobe Flash Player, please download the latest version of the Flash Player to your PC or MAC from the Adobe website, http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.  
8. Upon completion of the training, either close the training window, or leave it open for review, and return to eBridge in the window behind it to complete the assessment and attestation.
9. Complete the Assessment and Attestation.

Possible Error Message

If you receive an error (image below) when opening the link to the training in ANGEL, please select the link "reauthenticate". You should now be able to complete the training presentation within ANGEL. We apologize for the inconvenience.

CONFIRM DOCUMENTATION OF COMPLETED TRAINING:
Once you have completed your training assessment and attestation, your compliance with the training requirement will be registered within the Researcher Profile Module of eBridge_MCW.  If you would like to confirm or view that the completion has been registered, please take the following steps.

1. Log into eBridgeMCW (http://ebridge.mcw.edu).
2. Select either the “Study Staff” or “Proposal Team” role from your Personal Workspace.
3. Within the summary panel space of your Personal Workspace, select “My Researcher Profile”.
4. Select the “Compliance Training” tab to view your completed compliance training records which includes completion date as well as expiration date.
