The Division of Rheumatology has eight physicians who provide care to their patients. Most have been nationally recognized as being among " Best Doctors in America". The rheumatologists work closely with patients and their primary care physicians to identify the problem and design an individualized treatment program.
Outpatient care on our main campus is provided in the Froedtert & Medical College Rheumatology clinic on the fifth floor of the Froedtert Specialty Clinic. An off campus outpatient care Rheumatology clinic is located at Community Memorial Medical Commons. Inpatient care is provided on the general medical floors in Froedtert West Hospital and VA Zablocki Medical Center.
Rheumatic diseases require specific laboratory testing for confirmation of a diagnosis. The Division of Rheumatology at the Medical College of Wisconsin has its own specialty service laboratory that does unique testing for arthritis and related conditions. Specific tests include ANA on HEp 2 substrate, FARR assay for antibodies against double-stranded DNA, and anti-CCP antibodies, and crystal (urate, CPPD) identification in joint fluids.
The Rheumatology Clinic is part of the Musculoskeletal and Arthritis Center of the Froedtert and Medical College of Wisconsin. Members of the include radiologists (skeletal imaging), orthopaedic surgeons (joint replacement, hand surgery, foot surgery, spine surgery, tumor surgery, trauma surgery), gait analysts, physiatrists, occupational therapists, electromyographers, and physical therapists all located adjacent to the Rheumatology clinic on the 5th floor of the Froedtert Specialty Clinic.
