Chief Residents (Drs. Bradley and Greenup) match for fellowships at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Massachusetts General Hospital

Our two administrative Chief Residents, Ciaran Bradley, MD, MA and Rachel Greenup, MD, MPH, participated in the highly competitive Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) 2010 fellowship match this Fall. Dr. Bradley participated in the surgical oncology match, consisting of 18 programs with 51 positions. He will pursue his two-year surgical oncology fellowship training next year at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, one of the top cancer hospitals in the nation. Dr. Bradley began his general surgery residency at MCW in 2004. From 2007-2009, given his interests in the humanities and the bridge between science and philosophy, Dr. Bradley pursued two years of research in bioethics and palliative care as well as received his Masters in Bioethics degree from MCW. He has presented and published extensively, received multiple research awards, and serves on the American College of Surgeon’s Task Force on Palliative Care, the Ethics Committee for the Association for Academic Surgery, and several hospital ethics committees. Currently, his clinical interests are in melanoma and sarcoma.

Dr. Greenup participated in the breast surgical oncology match, consisting of 29 programs and 43 positions nationally. Dr. Greenup will pursue her one-year breast surgical oncology fellowship training at the prestigious Massachusetts General Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer Institute & Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. Dr. Greenup began her general surgery residency at MCW in 2004. From 2007-2009, she pursued two years of pediatric surgery research as well as received her Masters of Public Health degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison where her interest in breast cancer started. She has presented her work nationally and has published extensively in addition to receiving the Barney B. Becker, MD Teaching Award twice during her residency. Dr. Greenup plans to incorporate a busy clinical practice with outcomes-related research. Congratulations to both Dr. Bradley and Dr. Greenup! We wish them the best of luck next year.
