General surgery residents take second place in national ACS Surgical Jeopardy competition
Oct. 17, 2012 College News - Elliot Asare, MD, and Hani Hasan, MD, residents in the MCW general surgery program, won second place in the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress Surgical Jeopardy session held earlier this month in Chicago.
Trainees from a select group of 24 residency programs participate in Surgical Jeopardy. The trivia competition is modeled after the longstanding TV show, Jeopardy, hosted by Alex Trebek. Each program is represented by a team of two residents who work together to answer questions.
The competition begins with six preliminary elimination rounds, where four teams compete against each other for the chance to move to the final round. Among the six preliminary round winners, only the four teams with the highest scores move on to compete in the final round.
Drs. Asare and Hasan were the only team to get their multiple endocrine neoplasm-related final Jeopardy question correct.
