Travis Webb, M.D., Receives Outstanding Teacher Award
Travis P. Webb, M.D., Associate Professor in the Division of Trauma/Critical Care, received the 2012 Association for Surgical Education (ASE) Philip J. Wolfson Outstanding Teacher Award at the ASE Annual Banquet on March 23, 2012. Dr. Webb was one of three award recipients, chosen from an international nomination and selection process.
The Wolfson award recognizes individuals who are actively involved in surgical education and considered to be outstanding teachers by their chair, peers, residents, and students. Nominees must possess qualities such as commitment to teaching, innovation, enthusiasm and stimulation of interest, role modeling of professional characteristics, accessibility, and openness to new ideas.
Dr. Webb continues a tradition of educational excellence in the Department of Surgery as he is the fourth faculty member to receive this prestigious award, joining Karen Brasel, M.D., MPH, Philip Redlich, M.D, Ph.D., and John A. Weigelt, M.D., DVM.
Dr. Webb is an outstanding teacher whose commitment to surgical education has been recognized with the Edward J. Lennon Endowed Clinical Teaching Award in 2008 and induction into MCW’s Society of Teaching Scholars in 2011. We are so very fortunate to have Dr. Webb as a member of our faculty and look forward to his contributions to surgical education in the years to come.
