Dr. Gregory Ekbom Joins the Division of Community Surgery
The Department of Surgery and the Division of Community Surgery are pleased to announce that Dr. Greg A. Ekbom has joined the Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Surgery effective June 1, 2011. Dr. Ekbom’s primary appointment will be in the Division of Community Surgery and he will have a joint appointment in the Division of Surgical Oncology (Breast Surgery). Dr. Ekbom is a graduate of Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota and the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. He completed his General Surgery Residency here at the Medical College of Wisconsin which included six months at the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford, England. He has been an Assistant Clinical Professor (community teaching faculty) of this department since 1982. Dr. Ekbom’s practice is devoted exclusively to benign and malignant diseases of the breast. He has cared for patients at West Allis Memorial Hospital, St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, Elmbrook Memorial Hospital, and Waukesha Memorial Hospital. With his new appointment to the Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Surgery, he will continue these strong affiliations in addition to gaining operative privileges at Froedtert Hospital, The Froedtert/MCW Surgery Center, and Froedtert Health Community Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Ekbom is very active in the community; he received the Paul Harris Award from the Rotary Club in 1991 and the Salvation Army’s Distinguished Community Service Award in 1996.
Dr. Ekbom joins Drs. Marshall Beckman, Dean Klinger, Jasmeet Paul, and David Milia as the fifth member of our growing Division of Community Surgery. The Department of Surgery hopes to continue to build our Community Division throughout greater Milwaukee.
