Task Force for Children’s Surgical Care, led by Dr. Keith Oldham, Publishes Consensus Recommendations
Under the leadership of Chair Keith T. Oldham, M.D., the Task Force for Children’s Surgical Care has published its report of consensus recommendations in the March 2014 Journal of the American College of Surgeons, Optimal Resources for Children's Surgical Care in the United States, J Am Coll Surg. 2014 Mar;218(3):479-487.e4. The recommendations define the resources surgical facilities need to perform operations effectively and safely in infants and children. The recommendations have been approved by the Regents of the American College of Surgeons, the Board of Governors, and the members of the American Pediatric Surgical Association (APSA) and the Board of the Society of Pediatric Anesthesia (SPA).
Dr. Oldham, Professor and Chief, Division of Pediatric Surgery and Surgeon-in-Chief, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, serves as Chair of the task force, which is comprised of representatives from APSA, SPA, and invited leaders from other pediatric medical specialties.
