The Department of Surgery and Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery Welcomes Wade L. Fischer, M.D.
On behalf of Robert B. Love, M.D., James S. Tweddell, M.D. and the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, we are pleased to welcome Dr. Wade L. Fischer to the faculty of the MCW Department of Surgery.
Dr. Fischer comes to Milwaukee from Houston, Texas where he was Director of the ECMO Program at the DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center at The Methodist Hospital and Director of Cardiovascular Surgery at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital. Prior to joining The Methodist Hospital System, he was Chairman of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Section and Co-Director of the Heart Transplant Program at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas.
Dr. Fischer is a graduate of Cornell University and Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed general surgery training at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation and cardiothoracic surgery training at SUNY Downstate. Wade went on to complete a Heart and Lung Transplantation and Mechanical Assist Devices fellowship at UCLA. His vast expertise in cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support will be a great addition to our cardiothoracic surgery program.
Dr. Fischer is joined by his wife, Jonie, and their two children, Wyatt (age 10) and Blake (age 6). We warmly welcome Dr. Fischer and his family to Wisconsin and to the Department of Surgery.
