The 8th Biennial MCW Breast Cancer Symposium

Goal
This one-day symposium will provide course participants with updates on novel therapies and multidisciplinary approaches for the treatment of breast cancer. Participants will learn about the newest developments as well as current controversies in the fields of breast medical and surgical oncology, radiation oncology, plastic surgery and pathology. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a tumor board consisting of experts from the various fields. Participants are encouraged to submit cases for discussion.

Educational Objectives
At the end of the symposium, attendees should:

  • Discuss the role of radiation therapy in patients undergoing breast reconstruction.
  • Outline the difficulties with staging breast cancer.
  • Describe a breast cancer vaccine trial and criteria for enrollment.
  • Discuss the medical and surgical management of Stage IV breast cancer patients.
  • Review the management of patients at high risk for developing breast cancer.

Educational Method
The format will include lectures from leaders in each field along with discussion. There will also be case presentations in a tumor board format led by moderators with ample opportunity for questions and answers.

Evaluation
A course evaluation form will be provided to all attendees upon arrival, with the opportunity to comment on the value of the program content to their practice decisions, performance improvement activities, or impact on patient health status.

Accreditation and Designation
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the essential areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the Medical College of Wisconsin. The Medical College of Wisconsin is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Medical College of Wisconsin designates this education activity for a maximum of 6.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
