 Jon B. Mayer, MBA Jon Mayer currently serves as the president or Chair of the Academic Practice Assembly (APA), one of the largest (over 1,500 members) and most active assemblies of the Medical Group Management Association. The Academic Practice Assembly (APA) of MGMA is a unique subset of medical group practice managers. The distinctive role that academic practice managers play in the support of group practice administration, institutional administration, community service, internal and external research activities and medical education, make APA membership unique. The mission of the Academic Practice Assembly is to promote excellence in health care delivery and management of the academic medical practice group through a broad range of group practice leadership and professional development experiences, education, information, communication, an advocacy network, teaching and research activities.

MGMA: The Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), founded in 1926, is the nation's principal voice for medical group practice. MGMA's 21,000 members manage and lead some 11,500 health care organizations in which 237,000 physicians practice.

Jon has previously served on the Program Committees for the 2009 and 2010 MGMA Academic Practice Management Conferences and as Program Chair for the MGMA 2010 Academic Practice Management Conference. He has also served from 2008-2010 as the Treasurer of the Association of Academic Surgical Administrators.
