Tim Ridolfi matches at the Cleveland Clinic for colorectal surgery fellowship
Dr. Timothy Ridolfi, chief resident, participated in the colorectal surgery fellowship match on November 16, 2011. He will be starting his fellowship with three other fellows at the Cleveland Clinic, in Cleveland, Ohio on July 1, 2012. This year, there were 110 applicants seeking 79 positions.
Dr. Ridolfi has spent the past two years working in the lab of Dr. Toku Takahashi and Dr. Kirk Ludwig. His research centered on the manner in which the intrinsic or enteric nervous system responds to extrinsic nerve damage as demonstrated by incontinence following childbirth and low anterior resection syndrome following resections for rectal cancer. Dr. Ridolfi used rat models with a specific focus on the up regulation of 5HT3 and 5HT4 receptors.
Dr. Ridolfi has authored several publications from his research. In addition he has presented his work both nationally and internationally in China and Canada. He has also won awards both at the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons Annual Meeting and Digestive Disease Week for his research.
