HEPATO-PANCREATICO-BILIARY (HPB) FELLOWSHIP
The HPB fellowship is a one-year training program for the purpose of advanced clinical and research training in the field of liver, pancreas and biliary surgery (HPB surgery). The fellowship includes training in all aspects of HPB surgery including operative and perioperative management of patients with HPB diseases, liver and pancreas transplantation, organ procurement, and clinical HPB research.
There is active participation in weekly morbidity and mortality conferences, as well as the multidisciplinary pancreatico-biliary, hepatic tumor, tumor board and transplant conferences. The fellow will rotate for eight months on General Surgery and four months on Transplant surgery working specifically on advanced HPB cases and liver/pancreas transplantation and organ procurement.
Fellows run their respective service under the direction of the HPB and Transplant teaching attendings. They will also run a weekly half-day clinic and surgery list whereby they act as primary attending for basic general surgery cases (cholecystectomies, hernias, etc.).
The faculty consists of seven surgeons in the Divisions of General Surgery and Transplant Surgery.
