Integrated Hospitals
The Milwaukee Regional Medical Center is the site of the major clinical departments of the Medical College of Wisconsin. The Medical College faculty comprise the staff of Froedtert Hospital. In addition, Children´s Hospital of Wisconsin is physically linked to provide pediatric services for the medical complex. These hospitals provide tertiary care for the community and region and constitute the only Level One Trauma Center in Southeast Wisconsin. The Zablocki Veteran´s Affairs Medical Center, located on a separate campus four miles away, is the other major site of surgical training. Teaching services are also in place in four community hospitals in Milwaukee. This specialized training allows residents to learn the intricate process of surgery by working in a large academic arena and private practice settings ensuring a broad experience in various work environments. Members of the Department´s clinical faculty at these hospital conduct their private practices in an academic format so that residents are integrally involved in patient management and their surgical procedures.
Froedtert Hospital - Froedtert Hospital is an academic medical center staffed by faculty of the Medical College of Wisconsin. The hospital employs more than 1,400 registered nurses and is one of just 230 hospitals in the country to receive the prestigious Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. It serves as an eastern Wisconsin referral center for advanced medical practice care in 37 specialties and subspecialties. It is a major training and research facility with more than 1,000 medical, nursing and health technical students in training and over 2,000 active clinical trials each year. Froedtert, part of Froedtert and Community Health, operates the region’s only adult Level I Trauma Center. The Cancer Center is the only academic-based cancer research and patient care group in Southeastern Wisconsin. It brings together more than 215 physicians and scientists from more than 34 disciplines. A Froedtert Hospital North Tower expansion creating an additional four floors and 52 beds for a total of 497 staffed beds will open by mid 2009.
VAMC - The Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center is part of VA Integrated Services Network 12 (VISN 12), which includes facilities in Iron Mountain, MI; Tomah and Madison, WI, and North Chicago, Hines, and Jesse Brown Medical Center. The Medical Center delivers primary, secondary, and tertiary medical care and provides over 500,000 visits annually through an extensive outpatient program. Special programs include interventional radiology, cardiac surgery, comprehensive cancer care including radiation therapy, an extensive telemedicine program with the Iron Mountain, MI, VAMC, a Spinal Cord Injury Unit, and, in long term care, a Geriatric Evaluation and Management Program and a palliative care program.
Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin - Children's Hospital of Wisconsin is located on the grounds of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center. An affiliate of the adjacent Medical College of Wisconsin, Children's Hospital houses nine inpatient units. It is the only Level I Trauma Center in the region that cares exclusively for children. During 2006, 22,190 infants, children and adolescents were admitted and 284,276 were seen in the hospital's specialty outpatient clinics. The Emergency Department/Trauma Center treated 60,018 children and 14,177 surgical procedures were performed. Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin’s building plan includes a 425,000 square foot expansion for an increase from 236 beds to 294 beds, specialized clinics, three 24-bed pediatric intensive care units and 8 additional operating rooms. In February 2009, Parents rated Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin third in the nation in its Best Children’s Hospital survey. In addition, Children’s Hospital earned top-10 ratings in five specialty areas.
Columbia St. Mary's Hospital
Columbia St. Mary's Hospital is located in a well-known section of Milwaukee's energetic east-side. The tree-lined neighborhood, shared with many long-time residents and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, is an ideal setting. The hospital and adjacent medical arts building are just a short distance from the visitor parking and are handicap accessible. Not far from Lake Michigan, Columbia St. Mary's Hospital is easily accessible from anywhere in southeastern Wisconsin.
Columbia St. Mary's Hospital is staffed with three residents each month. The rotation varies in length: two months, six weeks, or one month. A PGY 5 Chief resident manages the service complemented by a PGY 3 and PGY 1 year resident.

St. Joseph´s Hospital
St. Joseph´s Hospital is the second largest private hospital in Milwaukee and serves as a referral and tertiary care center for southeastern and eastern Wisconsin. The facility is known throughout southeastern Wisconsin for its specialized obstetrics, emergency department, heart care, cancer care, rehabilitation, surgical services, and more.
St. Joseph's is staffed with three residents each month. The rotation varies in length: two months, six weeks, or one month. A PGY 5 Chief resident manages the service complemented by a PGY 3 and PGY 1 year resident.

Waukesha Memorial Hospital
Waukesha Memorial Hospital is the leading provider of advanced healthcare services between Milwaukee and Dane counties. Waukesha Memorial is a member of ProHealth Care, a locally owned and operated healthcare system dedicated to meeting the needs of area residents and physicians with excellent comprehensive hospital services. Waukesha Memorial Hospital is one of the nation's 100 Top Cardiac Hospitals as rated by Thomson Healthcare (2007), one of an elite group of only about 100 cancer centers worldwide to offer the revolutionary CyberKnife robotic radiosurgery system, and is a leading cancer center in southeastern Wisconsin. In addition to the Center for Breast Care, the Regional Cancer Center also provides comprehensive cancer care through the Center for Prostate Care, Center for Lung/Thoracic Care, and the neuro-oncology program through the ProHealth Care Brain Tumor Treatment and Research Center.
A fourth year clinical resident works with a team of surgeons at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. The length of this rotation can vary from three months to six weeks and is staffed for twelve months.
St. Mary´s Hospital Ozaukee
The Columbia St. Mary's Hospital Ozaukee is a unique facility. Built in 1994, it was designed around the needs of today's hospital patients. It is not only comfortable and functional, it is also visually impressive, complimenting both the landscape and the community. Located in Mequon, just minutes from Milwaukee, Columbia St. Mary's Hospital Ozaukee is easy to locate from the north or the south on I-43. The hospital includes a physician office tower and convenient parking - all handicap accessible.
A second year clinical resident works with a team of surgeons at St. Mary's Hospital Ozaukee. The length of this rotation is one month.
