The VPI is committed to providing access to violence prevention resources. We have organized available resource materials into five categories as described below. You can access resource materials by using the left-hand navigation menu.
I) VPI Project and Partners
The Violence Prevention Initiative (VPI) at MCW has gathered information on related MCW violence related programs as well as documents that were instrumental in guiding the development of the various VPI phases.
II) Local and Statewide Violence Related Reports and Programs
Many local, state and national program reports offer programmatic, needs assessment and incidence data that can serve as a foundation for future violence prevention efforts. Additionally, spreadsheets on MCW’s mapping capabilities are available below, containing information on data sets, geographies and various maps and figures to which our GIS specialists have access and generate for public use.
III) Evidence Based Best Practices in Violence Prevention
The following list of available violence prevention research literature is accessible through the MCW library system or in person at the VPI offices (list location). Also of use in planning are agency reports focused on evidence based best practices in violence prevention as well as blueprint model programs that comprise national best practices.

Community planning and development involves many evidence based steps. The following agency reports and research literature may provide guidance for your specific community in areas such as community readiness, engagement, organizing and capacity building.
